I don’t now about you, but I was looking forward to the transition of the year. The way 2021 ended was better than I could have ever hoped for. It felt as if God threw me an easy alley-oop and I caught it, went behind the back, added a windmill mid-air, slammed the ball through at the buzzer of the end of the first half, with the crowd going wild. Then 2022 or as it is being coined 2020, too.
Being vaxed, boosted, and masked were no protection against getting the Omicron variant of COVID. As I laid in my bed for a week with trouble breathing from going down the stair to make a meal, taking out the trash, or even taking a shower. The year started out rocky to say the least.
Entering a new year we build up hope that the changing of the calendar year would cause all things to become new. This hope seemed to have been misplaced. As if the second half of the game stated with going 0-12, 4 turnovers, and 2 fouls. This has been the feeling of the 2022 transition.
Transitions don’t all happen swiftly, some happen like a long methodical stroke of a painter’s brush.
Presently and personally my family and I are going through a long methodical transition. Many in my world are going through similar transitional process, some are positive, while some devastating. No matter the context of the transition when it is long and methodical, it can also bring on frustration and discouragement
Throughout our family’s time together we’ve transitioned to various homes, various cities, various jobs, and most importantly various mindsets. The mindset I had in one season could not carry the weight of the circumstances, situations, events that would occur in the next, let alone in the transition process. Each transition came with a season of waiting. The waiting period in a long transition season is what causes us the most stress.
We desire resolution. Finality. Closure. Decision. But perhaps we need to make a mindset shift. Perhaps we should shift from frustration to preparing for our future.
Perhaps you are in a long methodical season of transition, and it seems there is nothing but waiting in front of you. Stay strong and be encouraged your not alone and the wait is soon over. The promise will come to life and your future blessing will be overflowing.
